Tobin Neis, Systems Integratation Specialist
Everyone needs a Tobin on their team; he's resourceful, intelligent, and informed. He's always up for a good time and knows where to find the Home Depot, Target, or Walgreens nearest to most major convention centers in the United States. Tobin is MacGyver and Google rolled into one—he’s MacGoogle!
As Luxious Lighting’s Systems Integration Specialist, Tobin industriously designs and integrates systems for theatres, television studios, museums, and other themed environments. He provides our clients with thoughtful development and integration of turn-key stage and studio rigging, lighting, and control systems. Tobin has the knack to face both the toughest challenges and most promising opportunities with his own brand of innovative diligence. His credo: "We just have to find the right technology … and beat it into submission." (Often times armed only with a stick of gum, a piece of duct tape, and some dental floss.)
Enthusiasm, guts, and credentials to boot—Tobin holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and a MFA in Theatre Technology from Indiana University. Affiliations include the Illumination Engineering Society, the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, and the Society of Broadcast Engineers. In addition Tobin is a member of the ESTA Foundation’s Behind the Scenes Committee, which provides financial support to entertainment technology industry professionals in times of illness or injury.
Currently, Tobin balances his "day job" with a personal crusade to rid city landscapes of unsightly sodium and mercury vapor lighting in architecture in order to make skylines more interesting and pleasing to the eye. Once he's achieved his goal, Tobin plans to start a business onboard his family's boat, selling ice cream to lake-going vacationers.
